The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

This page is designed to be a resource for PDA members to assist them in becoming a participant in the NDIS and getting the support, services and equipment they need.

The NDIS Home Page - The NDIS website is not easy to navigate and its content is constantly changing. If you are intending to become a participant, the following pages will be of interest:

  • The People with Disability Page - with links explaining eligibility and the process to followed in becoming a participant.
  • The Our Sites Page - with links to other pages with the dates that the NDIS will become available in regions of each State and Territory. (The Western Australia page has information about how NDIS outcomes will be delivered by a state agency)
  • The Fact Sheets and Publications Page - with links to NDIS publications about how to join the Scheme as a participant and how to get the best out of it.
  • The Internal Review of a Decision Page - with information about how participants can seek a review of their support packages if they feel what is offered does not meet their need.
  • The National Disability Advocacy Program Page - with information about the support participants can get accessing the Scheme and getting the most out of it.

Other useful resources for NDIS participants include:

  • The Administrative Appeals Tribunal's NDIS Applicants Page - with information about how to appeal the outcome of an NDIS review.
  • The NDIS Grassroots Facebook Group - with commentary and experiences of people with disability as they interact with the Scheme and its administrators.
