On Sunday 4th February 2024, the second ever Physical Disability Awareness Day will be held, following its inaugural introduction in 2023.

The success of this initial event was run as an online DisabiliTEA event that had people from all over Australia joining together to bring to life a day established after seeing a gap in the awareness calendar for highlighting physical disabilities.

From this humble beginning, an interest in growing the event globally came from overseas organisations and individuals eager to be involved reaching out to us. And so, in 2024, Physical Disability Awareness Day moves to an international event and welcomes everyone to join us in recognising and celebrating the many people who live with a physical disability. The online DisabiliTEA event will run again and, depending on your location, other events will also be run – including Roll & Stroll park events and face-to-face catchups.

We look forward to growing and strengthening Physical Disability Awareness Day and making some noise, being seen, being recognised, being considered and being celebrated.

UPDATE 11 January 2024

We are very excited to reveal the Physical Disability Awareness Day logo and jingle.

The inclusion of many colours within the logo represent the many different physical disabilities, encapsulated in the purple associated with disability representation. The leaves (squares) pointing inwards within the overall image signify the unity and support within the physical disability community and wider public, and the pointing out of leaves symbolise the need to raise awareness and to increase support, inclusion and acceptance moving forwards.

The jingle was written and composed by PDA’s QLD Associate Director, Sarah Styles – accomplished musician/singer/music aficionado.
