About Us

Established in 1995, Physical Disability Australia (PDA) is a national peak Disability Peoples Organisation (DPO) run by people with physical disability for people with physical disability.

PDA exists for its members, who fuel our mission to “enable every Australian living with a physical disability to realise their full potential”.

Through our work, we advocate to government, create equal opportunities, promote diversity and inclusion and ensure that our values within the organisation (and our representation of Australians living with physical disability) are reflected, upheld and defended.

Our Mission

Empowering the lives of people with physical disability.

Our Vision

Bg About Mid Banner

Physical Disability Australia has been around since 1995 and is still forging the way 30 years on to ensure full inclusion of people with disabilities in Australian society.

Through its work, collaboration and involvement with other Disability Representative Organisations (DROs), PDA actively addresses issues concerning Australians living with disability and seeks to find resolution and positive outcomes for our country’s disability community.

With the help of our membership and ongoing awareness of events in the disability space, our organisation has its finger on the pulse of what needs to happen to ensure that the needs of Australians living with disability are defended, supported and upheld.

Physical disability accounts for approximately *76.8% of Australia’s disability community and a huge myriad of conditions fall under the umbrella of physical disability. Physical disability is defined as affecting a person’s mobility, physical capacity, stamina or dexterity.

As one of a very small handful of Australian disability organisations with members and board representation in every Australian state and territory, we have a truly definitive national footprint. This allows PDA to truly have its finger on the pulse of disability in our country.

It is through this representation that our strong voice is heard, and that we are included in Australia’s disability conversation.
